Cameroonians Celebrate their Culture in Montreal during the
Cameroon Cultural Week: May 16 - 23 |

The Association of Cameroonians in Canada has published an impressive program for the Cameroon Cultural Week that is scheduled to run from May 16 to 23 in various parts of the city. The highlight of the week is the Cameroon Cultural Festival that is scheduled on Saturday, May 16, from noon to 7 p.m., when Cameroonians from Toronto, Ottawa, Moncton, Quebec, Sherbrooke and Trois-Rivières will converge at the auditorium of Collège Notre-Dame on Queen Mary road, opposite the Oratory, for a cultural extravaganza. The festival that will bring together traditional dance groups, choirs and artists from various regions of Cameroon plus guest groups from other African countries. The festivities will be crowned by a traditional dance competition for kids and a Miss Cameroon Canada beauty pageant. This activity is free and open to the public. Bring the entire family! |
Cameroon is known as Africa in miniature thanks to the diversity and richness of its culture, languages, geography, cuisine and peoples. According to Paul Ayah, president of the Association of Cameroonians in Canada, this is a unique opportunity for the Montreal public to sample all of Africa in one afternoon. |

With a population of over 5,000, the Cameroonian community in Montreal is growing every year and the Cultural Week is seen as an opportunity to showcase Cameroonian culture to the wider Montreal community.
