INVITATION TO SUBMIT LISTS FOR THE ACC BOARD ELECTION SCHEDULED ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 02, 2010
Dear compatriots, members of the Association of Cameroonians in Canada
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), invites you to get involved in the ACC by submitting your application as the head of a list in view of the ACC Board election or join one of the lists preparing for the election. In this way, you will play your own part in building this association, your association, because it is one of our most outstanding and prestigious common achievements which shall be handed down to our successors. You will, therefore, contribute your own quota toward our common effort aimed at sustaining the vision and efforts of our brothers and sisters who did not spare their talents in order to make the ACC what it is today.
Important dates:
Saturday, September 16, 2010 at midnight ET: Deadline for the submission of files to the Independent Electoral Commission.

Applicant’s abilities:

-being respectful of the acc’s apolitical, multicultural and non-religious character
Guidelines for submission of lists (See Article 16, Paragraphs 1 to 6 of the Constitution)
1. Duties of each member of the Board: They are defined in Articles 17 and 18 of the Constitution.
Procedure: Application file: Each application file shall have all of the following documents:
• A duly completed and signed application form
• A motivation letter for the post of President addressed to the IEC whose president is Ms Rachel Tonye.
• A CV or a small summary describing the expertise and main realizations of the applicant for the post of president and other members on the list.
2. Composition of list: ACC members are elected through a vote by list. The head of each list (the candidate vying for the post of President) shall submit his or her candidature and that of the members on his or her list to the Electoral Commission prior to the deadline stipulated above. Each list shall fill candidates for the following posts:
i) President
ii) General Secretary
iii) Treasurer
iv) Vice President, Relations with Cameroon
v) Vice President, Relations with the government of Canada
vi) Vice President, Relations with the government of Quebec and the City of Montreal
vii) Vice President, Relations with Universities and Students
viii) Vice President, Communication and Public Relations.
ix) Vice President, Social and Community Affairs.
3. Eligibility: Members of the Board are elected by the General Meeting in accordance with the following criteria:
• Each list shall reflect the ethnic diversity of the community and shall not include more than two (2) nationals of the same ethnic group;
• The President – elect shall vouch for the eligibility of his ticket and defend it before the General Meeting;
• Details regarding the rules of procedure for electing members of the ACC Board are provided for in the Bylaws.
4. Assessment of applications : Article 26 – The Independent Electoral Commission will assess candidates based on the eligibility criteria provided for in Article 16, paragraph 1 of the Constitution. In the event of any irregularities, the head of the list will be contacted by the IEC not later than 72 hours before elections. The head of the list will be required to rectify the situation no later than 24 hours before elections and shall inform the IEC by email with a read notification.
The IEC has five (5) business days following the submission of a list to assess its eligibility. No candidate shall be allowed to start campaigning prior to the receipt of an official email from the IEC confirming the eligibility of his or her list.
